Knowing When to Throw in the Towel

Sometimes I get a bit overextended. Bah hah hah hah!

It’s just that there are so many good ideas out there and anything is possible. It really is. But, lots of anythings aren’t always doable at the same time. My participation in the 2013 YALSA HUB Challenge is a prime example. Read 25 YA winners in 20 weeks? No problem. Add in life, finishing grad school, lots of action at work, and zillions of new books to read and you get overload.

So, while I didn’t read or listen to 25 from the winners list and write quick reviews for them, I did read and listen to some great books. Several of them were excellent. Many more will remain on my list to read in the coming months. If you’re interested, take a look at what I finished.

To those who completed the challenge, I commend you! I look forward to being part of the challenge again next year…

Hub Challenge, part 1

I’m happy to report that I’ve finished two of the twenty-five award winning books I am going to read or listen to for the YALSA Hub Challenge! I started with Drama, a graphic novel, and then listened to the audiobook version of The Fault in Our Stars. Next up? The Code Name Verity.

If you’re interested, check out my brief reviews of these first two on my Hub Reading Challenge page. What books have you read or listened to lately?

The Hub Challenge

YALSA’s 2013 Hub Reading Challenge has begun and I am taking part! Along with other YA book lovers, I’ll be reading 25 of the 84 recognized great reads (and audiobooks) from 2012 between now and June 22. I’ll be keeping track of the books I read and giving quick reviews here. Want to participate? Check out YALSA’s HubYALSA reading-challenge-logo-participant-300x240 for details. I’m starting with Drama by Raina Telgemeier and then Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. What will you read/listen to first?
