Part of what I do as children’s librarian is work on community literacy projects. I recently offered an early literacy workshop for local childcare providers and parents. The lively event focused on the feltboard and was standing room only. I demonstrated how the feltboard, both traditional and digital, can be used easily and effectively with young children. Then we made portable versions, along with felt sets, that they could take with them. The program was a hit and will hopefully lead to others.
